Newsletter #17
A warm 2009 hello to all of our valued customers. Everyone here at Pita Break knows how lucky we are to be able to continue to provide you with our family’s baked goods. Our appreciation for your support never wavers and sincere thanks go out to each and everyone of you.
There is much that we are eager and immensely proud to share with you. To start with, the Queen’s School of Business and Hewitt Associates announced in the Globe and Mail on January 14, 2009 that Ozery’s Pita Break had been ranked 24th in the 50 Best Small & Medium Employers in Canada. Amongst all the winners, we are the only food company to receive this prestigious honour. The award is based on work environment, human resource practices and overall employee health, wellness and happiness.
Soon after, on February 10, the Canadian Liver Foundation, presented us with three LIVERight™ Awards. They saluted food that is both “nutritionally sound” and “artfully finds a way to make the taste buds sing” in prepared/packaged form. The categories in which we were honoured are:
1. Best Breakfast Item - Apple Cinnamon Breakfast Pita 2. Best Lunchbox Item - Flax Pita 3. Best Family-Friendly Item - Morning Grains Breakfast Pita
With both of the above awards, we are profoundly aware of and thankful for the contributions of each and every person that works in our bakery.
Some of you may remember that a while ago we began exporting our Lavash crackers to some areas of the United States. The crackers were well received and are now a staple south of the border. It is beyond our wildest dreams to realize that our small family owned CANADIAN company is putting a small dent in the U.S. market. Not bad, eh??
At home, the children in the family are growing up while we are growing older. Yet, it is reassuring to look into the mirror and still see a youthful face with a full head of hair with nary a wrinkle in sight. (Too bad the image changes once the bifocals go on.) Oh yes, back to the kids. Our eldest is in grade three, his brother in grade two and his sister in junior kindergarten. Our sincerest appreciation goes out to the wonderful teachers in the public school system who are enriching our childrens’ lives.
Many in our extended Pita Break family are looking forward to celebrating the upcoming births of their babies. We hope that every expectant family is blessed with a healthy child.
We are aware that the coming year may not be easy for many families. With that in mind, we thank you again for your support and sincerely wish all of you a healthy, peaceful and prosperous New Year.
Sincerely, Guy Ozery, Alon Ozery, Al Y. Ozery
